NATIONAL EMMY® AWARD FOR COMMUNITY AND PUBLIC SERVICE
National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences
At a luncheon held in the Grand Salon of the Essex Hotel, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presented the 2002 Emmy Awards for Community and Public Service. The award for Local Public Service campaigns was presented to "One Houston United: The Night the Rains Came," a co-production of Belay Media, TVP and Ward & Ames Special Events.
The award was accepted by writer and producer Allen Morris of Belay Media, who thanked the Academy for the honor and commended the organization for, "their commitment to recognizing the importance local media plays in providing worthwhile community and public service projects. Because of the program we produced, millions of dollars were raised that directly impacted the lives of thousands of families along the Texas Gulf Coast who were devastated by damage from Tropical Storm Allison. It is a great honor to be recognized in this manner; for working together as a single community, providing help to the people who suffered the most."
